Vintage Snap-On Tools "TORQOMETER" Tie Clip
This is a vintage tie clip in the shape of an old Snap-On "Torqometer" torque wrench. In tiny letters the dial reads "SNAP-ON TOOLS CORP. / TORQOMETER / INCH-POUNDS". The Snap-On dial-face Torqometers that most closely resemble the one that adorns this tie clip were produced between the mid-1940s and late-1960s. One such example is shown below in a U.S. patent filed by Snap-On Tools in 1943.
This tie clip was probably made as an advertising piece or as a gift or award to Snap-On employees. It appears to be made of pewter, and the maker's mark on the back of the clip reads "LEAVENS CO. / ATTLEBORO, MASS."
