Our friend and Brooklyn neighbor Shabd Simon-Alexander is an artist/designer who creates beautiful hand-dyed garments in cotton and silk. Shabd draws inspiration from a wide range of sources including Hubble telescope photos, Afghan war rugs, natural textures like rust and lichen, folk costumes from foreign cultures, and her 4-year-old niece's drawings.
The cotton t-shirts and tank tops we carry on Hickoree's take traditional tie-dye techniques as their starting point and elevate the medium to gorgeously detailed new levels. Because they are individually hand-dyed, every shirt is a one-of-a-kind object.
