Five Color Silver Beet Heirloom Seeds
HISTORY: All the colors of Swiss Chard: ruby red, pink, orange, yellow and silver date back thousands of years. This selection provides a uniform distribution of colors on the ribs with deep green crumpled leaves of fine flavor.
HABIT: Upright plants produce leaves that are used fresh or cooked like spinach. Cut leaves 1 inch above ground and new leaves will form, allowing continuous harvest all season long until frost.
CULTURE: Plant seed outdoors as soon as the ground can be prepared. Plant in rows 18 inches apart, spacing seeds 1 inch apart. Can also be broadcast in beds. Cover seed with 1/2 inch of fine soil, well pressed down. Keep moist until seeds sprout. When plants are 3-4 inches tall, thin plants to 4 inches apart. Can be planted all summer long. Matures in 50 days.
