Ohi-Yaki Tea Bowl, "Ame" Glaze
"Ohi Yaki" originated in 1666 in a village in Ishikawa Prefecture, and consists of hand-formed ceremonial tea bowls made from clay specific to the area. Ohi Yaki is characterized by the use of "Ame," an amber-colored glaze, and pieces are fired one by one at a low temperature and removed from the kiln while still burning red.
