1945 Replica "Collector's Edition" Slinky
Slinky was invented by naval engineer Richard James in the early 1940s and originally demonstrated at Gimbels department store in Philadelphia in November 1945. The toy was an instant hit, selling its entire inventory of 400 units in under two hours. It remains one of the most enduring and successful toys ever made, having sold over 250 million units worldwide.
This "collector's edition" is packaged in a replica of the original 1945 box, and it is made of oiled blue-black steel like the original (rather than the chrome steel of the modern Slinky).
